GLSEN CNJ Hosts Open House at Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum
GLSEN Central New Jersey offered this opportunity to its members, educators, and all others interested in the work of fostering safe spaces in K-12 schools to view the insightful and though-provoking museum exhibits. Kidsbridge is a wonderful partner in our work. Our focus is to help students learn respect for all regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Their displays and learning stations, directed to middle and elementary classes, go to the heart of understanding prejudice and developing appreciation for differences.
Among the exhibits were interactive stations that help children learn that name-calling and exclusion are forms of prejudice and that they can be Upstanders rather than bystanders when prejudice occurs.
The open house featured information about the museum and GLSEN CNJ.
