GLSEN Connecticut's Student Organizing Team

These student leaders have put their passion for safe schools advocacy into action!

GLSEN Connecticut’s Student Organizing (Student Org.) Team is a group of bright, energetic, and dedicated Gr. 6-12 student leaders from all across the state who are committed to making their schools safer for ALL students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

The team’s main goals are to educate students and the community about LGBTQ issues in schools and empower them to create social change through peer education, student leadership, and safe schools organizing. The team accomplishes these goals by facilitating a series of student-designed and -led workshops at the annual True Colors Conference (2011-Present) and the chapter's annual Safe School Summit (2012-13). Student leaders also engage in community outreach by tabling and guest speaking at various schools and conferences throughout the state about their efforts to make schools safer for ALL students.

Please visit our Student Org. Team page at for updates and information about the team. For questions about meetings, events, or becoming a member, please e-mail our two adult coordinators: Erica Lynn Del Rio,, and Julia Goss, You can also contact our two student coordinators: Xander Cavanagh,, and Mercedes Horner,
